Manchester United announce Amad Diallo’s £37million move from Atalanta

Manchester United have today confirmed the signing of Atalanta winger Amad Diallo on a four-year deal.

The 18-year old has finally moved to Old Trafford after the two clubs agreed on a deal last October. The deal was all dependant on Diallo being able to obtain a work permit, which has now been obtained.

The deal will cost Manchester United around £19m with £18m in add-ons, potentially taking the deal to £37m. The club took to their official Twitter account to show off their new signing to their fans.

This is a signing for the future by United with Diallo making two substitute appearances this season. Interestingly, the winger has made just five first-team appearances since his debut in 2019, scoring once.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær has spoken about the deal, he said: “As a club, we have followed Amad for a number of years and having watched him myself, I believe he is one of the most exciting young prospects in the game.

“Manchester United has such a proud history of developing young players and everything is in place to enable Amad to reach his potential here.”

And a new signing Amad Diallo also took to the club’s website to voice his excitement of joining the club. He added: “After waiting since the summer, it is finally a dream come true to complete my move to Manchester United. I am hugely ambitious and there is so much that I want to achieve in the game; when I spoke to the manager I knew that I had joined the perfect club.”

The club expects Diallo to fly into Manchester in the next few days where he will join up with his new side. The winger will not have to self-isolate when entering the country after already being in a secure bubble in Atalanta.

The demand for clubs to find the next superstar as early as possible is as high as ever. So have Manchester United found the next star in Amad Diallo?
