Manchester United are set to sign Porto’s left-back Alex Telles on a four-year deal after coming to terms with the Liga Nos outfit.
Sources close to Man Utd Central claim that after hours of fruitless negotiations, the Red Devils are set to come to an agreement with Porto over the permanent transfer of Brazilian fullback Telles.
The Mancunians will pay the Portuguese side £15.4m and will sign Telles on a four-year deal.
We previously reported that Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer was running the risk of missing out on both Jadon Sancho and Alex Telles as they continued to low ball both Borussia Dortmund and Porto.
It now appears as though they have secured Telles’ signature. Porto were holding out on receiving £22.5m but with their 27-year-old left-back set to enter the final year of his contract, they couldn’t afford to lose him for nothing in 2021.
Sancho is still unlikely to join Manchester United as Dortmund don’t need to sell the young English forward due to the number of years remaining on his contract.
He still expected to leave the club next summer but then United will face competition from Liverpool.
Telles will take the number 27 at Old Trafford while United are also working hard to sign Edinson Cavani on a free transfer, with the 33-year-old ex-PSG forward potentially in line to receive the iconic no.7.
The next few days will be absolutely huge for Manchester United and their hopes to remain in the top four in the Premier League for a second season running.
