Player Ratings:Manchester United 3-0 Sheffield United

Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 victory at home against Sheffield United yesterday evening.

Spurred on by a brilliant Anthony Martial hat trick, The Reds secured a crucial three points in their bid for a top 4 finish.

United fielded arguably their strongest lineup on paper, with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes finally linking up in midfield.

Ole’s men didn’t disappoint as they controlled the game for large parts and put Sheffield United to the sword.

Martial got the opener on seven minutes when he turned in Marcus Rashford’s low powerful drive from the right edge of the box with a smart finish.

The Frenchman got his second after some good work from United around the Sheffield box, sweeping home from a brilliant Wan Bisakka cross.

Martial completed his hat trick in the 74th minute. After being played through on goal by Rashford he calmly dismissed the opposition keeper with a chipped finish.

It wasn’t a busy day for the United keeper but he was tidy with his distribution and looked sharp.

Defensively solid, won most of his duels and showed excellent distribution throughout.

Harry Maguire – 7

Organized the defence well and played some good passes out of the back.

Victor Lindelof – 7

Had a much needed good performance, winning all of his duels and looked confident on the ball.

Aaron Wan Bisakka – 7.5 

A positive influence on Manchester United’s right flank. He made the assist for Martial’s second goal.

Nemanja Matic – 9.5 

Quietly ran the show from midfield. An excellent game from the Serb.

The Frenchman had a good game in the middle of the park, dictating proceedings with some excellent passing and dribbling.

Bruno Fernandes – 7

An okay performance from the Portuguese maestro. He was at the heart of most things Manchester United did going forward.

Mason Greenwood – 7.5

A good performance from the young man. He wasn’t afraid to let fly and would have scored on another day. Put in some good defensive work.

Marcus Rashford – 8

Should have scored, missed the best chance of the first half. He was positive with his passing and set Martial to score up twice as a result.
