Manchester United were fortunate to be gifted a penalty after Pogba went over which was converted by Bruno Fernandes to send the Mancunians into second place and level on points with Liverpool.
Aston Villa fought hard and equalised in the second half but were dismayed when Pogba went over after he tripped himself in the box.
Referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot and, of course, Fernandes was never going to miss from 12 yards, handing his side the three points.
Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz took to Twitter following the game to slam Pogba and VAR for what the Brazilian believed to be a foul. He wrote: “I see this video [and] I can’t believe it was a penalty. I always support fairer football, with fewer mistakes, but then I stop and see these types of moves.
“If we have VAR to help, let’s start using it CORRECTLY. These mistakes can define the future of clubs!”
The 22-year-old then retweeted a fan that posted a video of Pogba seemingly telling Luke Shaw to dive in the box.

The Premier League needs to start taking action against players that are diving to win fouls in the box, with the number of penalties being awarded these days far higher than it should be.
The win over Villa took Manchester United level with Liverpool on 33 points although Jurgen Klopp’s side is ahead on goal difference.
The two sides will meet later this month in what is set to be an exciting match that will help decide the title race.
